As the Fall 2023 season trucks along, fashion week attendees have already made it from the frigid temperatures of New York City to the similarly cold ones of London. And as everyone flocks to Milan next, we’re taking a moment to appreciate the many stunning beauty looks we spotted among the street style crowd outside the London Fashion Week shows.

This season, showgoers were really, really into braids: We spotted box braids, high-ponytail braids, knotted braids, pigtail braids and corn rows, to name only a handful. The obsession with all things plaited began with New York Fashion Week’s attendees, and we can safely say we now expect it to be the dominant hair trend for all of fashion month — at least off the runways.

Shortly after NFL star Michael Vick was indicted in July 2007 for running a dog fighting operation, Nike suspended the release of his signature shoe line. Vick went on to plead guilty and have his contract suspended, but less clear is what exactly happened to all those sneakers.

Fast-fashion eCommerce marketplaces including Wish, Shein and relative newcomer Temu are reeling as inflation presses down and consumer buying behavior shifts, creating a drag on the sector and leading to revisions in critical operational elements to reignite momentum.

This was clear on the Wish fourth-quarter 2022 earnings call Thurs. (Feb. 23) as Wish.com CEO Joe Yan noted, “Our value-oriented consumers were impacted by the steep increase in energy and food prices, which translated to a slowing of discretionary spending across the regions,” adding that “we are not immune to the changes in consumer spending habits, particularly among the lower income households that shop on our marketplace.”

The event was hosted by the Great Closet Cleanout






The first Luxe Fashion Show was a success.

Held at Kelowna’s Laurel Packinghouse, the Great Closet Cleanout turned high-end for a more boutique style market.

With more than 20 vendors, shoppers could look at and buy new and gently used clothing and accessories from luxury brands like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Jimmy Choo.

The show was hosted Sunday (Feb. 26) from 12 to 4 p.m.

Shoppers had the option of purchasing a VIP ticket online ahead of the event to get early access to the deals from 11 a.m. to noon, before the market opened to everyone for $5 a

The eight style lessons to take away from London Fashion Week

When the going gets tough, the tough dress up. Always have. Always will. It’s an atavistic human reflex. When battle looms you literally slap on your war paint. Maxed-out glamour during the 1930s. Lipstick duties during the 1940s. Solar bursts of yellow, body-caressing, stretchy knits, grown-up knee-length skirts, the crispest of shirts, plush coats and a whole lot of dress-up kit at London Fashion Week, February 2023.

This is not a balmy climate, particularly if you’re an independent designer without the cushion of perfumes, sunglasses and make-up to prop you up through the lean times and the occasional global pandemic.

NY Fashion Week: Christian Siriano channels Audrey Hepburn in a garden

Christian Siriano lined his New York Fashion Week runway Thursday with thousands of multicolored flowers and put wide-brimmed hats worthy of muse Audrey Hepburn on some of his models to top off a big week.

First, there was the custom burgundy power suit he made Vice President Kamala Harris for Tuesday’s State of the Union. He nailed it in one trip to Washington, D.C., in one fitting.

“And we had the Grammys and fashion week,” Siriano told The Associated Press in a backstage interview. “We had no time and I was like, well, we hope it works. It’s just such an honor. We wanted to make her look really beautiful and powerful.”

Then there was his update of Alicia Silverstone’s iconic “Clueless” yellow plaid skirt set for her Rakuten Super Bowl commercial airing Sunday. He even scored a cameo as a student in Cher Horowitz’s debate class.
