New Exhibition Brings Together Quilting, Fashion and Design Artists

Greenbelters are invited to attend an opening reception on Sunday, February 4, 1 to 3 p.m. for the new exhibition, PIECED: Fiber Arts by Fashion Designer Venus Stanton and the Uhuru Quilters Guild at the Community Center Art Gallery. PIECED brings together the work of nine artists of different generations and aesthetics who use similar construction techniques to achieve diverse creative ends. Visitors will be immersed in an environment of vibrant color, bold geometry and rich symbolism, including the personal, cultural and cosmic.
Stanton is represented in the exhibition by a series of ensembles from their Midnight Funk Association collection, their senior thesis project at the Maryland Institute College of Art, which led to a prestigious Windgate-Lamar Fellowship at the Center for Craft. Fashion Designer Helen Yarmak On Her Ocean-Inspired Jewelry Collection

We might know internationally-acclaimed fashion designer Helen Yarmak for her colorful coats that have been worn by some of the most iconic pop stars in history, like Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, and Mary J Blige.

But Yarmak is also a jewelry designer with a new ocean-inspired collection, Natural Beauty. The collection boasts a stylish collection of rings, earrings, and necklaces, as part of her Fall/Winter 2024 collection, just in time for New York Fashion Week.

The whimsical pieces incorporate some of the most overlooked semi-precious stones, like a soft pink stone called Morganite. The collection pays homage to the deep sea, and the world’s natural treasures.

“I love and appreciate what mother earth gives us,” explains Yarmak. “Our oceans make up more than 70 percent of our planet, and there’s beauty and a whole different life underwater.”

Sam Smith packs on the PDA with their fashion designer boyfriend Christian Cowan on loved-up outing in NYC – as they quash split rumours

Sam Smith proved their relationship is going strong as they packed on the PDA with their fashion designer boyfriend Christian Cowan on Wednesday.

The singer, 31, kissed their partner as they stepped out in New York City together – quashing rumours that they had split.

There were fears for the romance over Christmas amid claims Sam had signed up to celebrity dating app Raya after the couple went their separate ways.

However, a source close to Sam soon after revealed to MailOnline that they were still together as they questioned the authenticity of the star’s profile on Raya.

On the outing Sam looked as stylish as ever in a blue patterned skirt and grey jacket, teamed with chunky trainers.

Indonesia’s children fashion hypes up with young models – Lifestyle

Indonesian fashion designers aspire to revive the local kids’ fashion industry despite its many challenges.


Kids’ is one of the least developed sectors of the local fashion industry. While international children’s fashion brands flood the market, Indonesian fashion designers have been reluctant to create this niche segment.

“Kids’ fashion has a large potential, and yet the local industry is still underdeveloped,” Hannie Hananto, chairperson of the Indonesian Fashion Chamber (IFC) Jakarta chapter, said during the press conference in Soehanna Hall in Jakarta on Jan. 12.

To encourage more Indonesian fashion designers to delve into the industry, IFC Jakarta presented the first Jakarta Kids Fashion Trend Show at the Soehanna Hall on Jan. 12.

The event was part of the Jakarta Fashion Trend (JFT), an annual IFC Jakarta Chapter event

NY Fashion Week: Christian Siriano channels Audrey Hepburn in a garden

Christian Siriano lined his New York Fashion Week runway Thursday with thousands of multicolored flowers and put wide-brimmed hats worthy of muse Audrey Hepburn on some of his models to top off a big week.

First, there was the custom burgundy power suit he made Vice President Kamala Harris for Tuesday’s State of the Union. He nailed it in one trip to Washington, D.C., in one fitting.

“And we had the Grammys and fashion week,” Siriano told The Associated Press in a backstage interview. “We had no time and I was like, well, we hope it works. It’s just such an honor. We wanted to make her look really beautiful and powerful.”

Then there was his update of Alicia Silverstone’s iconic “Clueless” yellow plaid skirt set for her Rakuten Super Bowl commercial airing Sunday. He even scored a cameo as a student in Cher Horowitz’s debate class.
